Guide Craft Noah’s Ark Toy Box Review and Giveaway {CLOSED}

I just love children’s furniture and anything that makes toy storage in my living room so much easier.  That’s why I was really thrilled when I found out that I was going to be working with Guide Craft! They have been creating children’s furniture and furniture and toys that are used in schools for 45 years.  I have always heard that Guide Craft makes excellent furniture and toys and after using some of their products, I can say that I agree 100%!  One of the items that we were sent for review was a toy box from Guide Craft’s Noah’s Ark collection.  Their Noah’s Ark Collection is just adorable!
The toy box was packaged really well.  I love the way that it was packaged because it didn’t leave any room for the toy box to get damaged during the shipping process.  There were 8 pieces to the toy box and each one was wrapped with care to keep anything from scratching.  I was really impressed with the way it was packaged because we have bought kid furniture from elsewhere with all the parts just kind of thrown in a box.  With Guide Craft, it was not.
The assembly was really simple.  It only took about a half hour to put together and that was only because my husband initially put the top panel of the toy box on backwards and he had to take it off to put it on the right way.
To sart, we screwed on both the front of the toy box and the back of the toy box to both of the end pieces.  This was really easy because the parts also fit into the end pieces making the box easy to move because the parts fit snug enough that we could move it before the screws were even in place.  We just flipped it over to screw in the screws on the other side.  After we had the front and the back of the toy box attached to the end pieces, we slid in the bottom of the toy box.
Then we simply slid the back part of the toy box between the end pieces and did the same thing after we sat it down.
The next step was attaching the top panel to the piece with the door hinges.  This was really simple and then we screwed it to the top of the toy box on the backside with the door hinges facing inward.  The top panel has lock screws so you just have to make sure that they are in the right position.  Make sure that the hinges are inward because if not, you will have a door on the backside of the toy box.  The hinges were already on that part too so we didn’t have extra parts that we had to put on!
All that was left was putting the door or lid on and after the lid was on, we had to place the safety lid supports.  These two tasks are definately a two person job.  One of us had to hold the lid in place while the other screwed in the screws to secure the lid to the hinges.  The safety supports went on the inside after the lid was on.  Again, someone had to hold the lid open and be able to hold the supports in place while the other screwed them in place too.
It still didn’t take any time at all. It may seem like a lot of steps to put this toy box together but it was honestly the easiest toy box we have ever put together. I think this was the first time that my husband and I put something together without trying to kill each other!  As you can see, we also used a power drill to put it together and because of the way it is crafted and the strength and durablity of the wood, you don’t have to worry about the wood splitting or anything at all.  We didn’t have a single problem.  The instructions on how to put it together was very easy to follow and really easy to understand.
I just love the picture on the front of the toy box!  The paint job is great too and we have had a few toys thrown at it a few times already and it doesn’t seem to chip at all.  Not only is the front of the toy box painted with a really cute Noah’s Ark picture, the picture is even raised in the wood!  I just love it!  There are slots on the ends of the toy box that can be used as handles to move it really easily and I just love how the lid works.  The Noah’s Ark Toy Box has a lid that stays up when it’s lifted.  I love that Guide Craft put in this safety feature.  I don’t have to worry about a lid falling down on my kids while trying to get something out of it.  Which also means that the lid doesn’t slam down either.  There is also a gap under the lid to prevent pinched fingers.
The toy box is made to be really sturdy.  It doesn’t wobble at all and there has even been a few times our 4 year old was caught sitting on top of it.  Because of the way it is designed, he thinks he can sit on it like a bench.  Of course he gets made to get off of it when we catch him but I feel very comfortable that it would hold his weight.  This just goes to show just how sturdy it really is.  I can see this toy box lasting for years.
The Noah’s Ark Collection is a great theme for our youngest little guy’s bedroom.  Eventually when he gets old enough that I don’t have to keep a million toys in my living room, it will go upstairs.  At least I will feel good knowing that this toy box will be a safe toy box to take upstairs.  We just have too many toys in the living room and we also have toys that permanately stay downstairs too.  This may be a toy box but it looks cute sitting in the corner of my living room.
I guess if I had to come up with something I don’t like about it, I would say that I wish there was a way to cover up the screws on the ends of the toy box.  They are visable and they don’t blend in.  That being said, I still don’t mind it because at the same time, there aren’t any little covers for the screws that may come off and cause a choking hazard.  I think this is the greatest toy box we have ever had.  I have to take my hat off to Guide Craft for making sturdy, safe, reliable, and beautiful products!  Here’s to 45 more years!
The product was sent to me for free by the company for my use and review. I was not paid to write my review and my opinions are 100% my own.
