Safees Prism Reflector Clip-Ons #Review and Rafflecopter #Giveaway {CLOSED}

I was thrilled when I was contacted by Safees to review their product.  As a mom, the safety of my kids and my whole family is my number one priority.  I have seen accidents on the news quite to often about drivers hitting pedestrians simply because they couldn’t see them while the driver and the pedestrian were even following traffic laws.

“On average, a pedestrian is killed in a traffic crash every 120 minutes. Almost two-thirds of pedestrian fatalities occur when the light condition is either dark or dark with street lights.  No matter how well a driver thinks he can drive, the fact is that visibility is severely impaired in the dark.  Pedestrians, bicyclists, skaters and others not driving a vehicle are at great risk to be hurt simply because they are not clearly visible to traffic.  In order to reduce traffic accidents and make our children and ourselves safer on US roads, Safees is introducing hard prism traffic safety reflectors to the USA.  Simply by attaching a reflector to yourself or your child  you will increase your visibility to oncoming traffic by anywhere between 300 and 1,000 percent (depending on distance, darkness, weather).  That can be the difference between being safe or not.”

Safees are adorable prism reflectors that can be attached to clothing, bags, strollers – just about anything to keep your kids and family safe from traffic.  Safees some in a great variety of shapes and designs which also makes them fun to collect.  Lots of different colors too!  It’s recommended that they are worn between knee and thigh height and to let them swing freely facing traffic so that cars’ headlights can catch the reflection easily warning the driver that you are there well ahead of time so they have plenty of time to slow down knowing you are there.

I never really thought about it much before.  I mean, I never really thought we were ever outside doing anything very often when it’s dark but it really doesn’t have to be totally dark for reduced visibility of drivers.  Most of the time we run errands or go to the grocery store in the evening and I never thought about parking lots.  We all know there are tons of people who don’t pay a whole lot of attention in parking lots!  After I got to thinking, I realized there are a lot of times when Safees would be used in my family!

To use Safees, attached a durable string through the hole at the top of them and then using a pin such as a safety pin, attach it to whatever you would like to attach it to.  You can also purchase spiral attachments.  The Safees that I received each came with the spiral attachments and they are awesome.  The spiral attachments are really “springy” which are nice if they get caught on something.  One end of the spiral attachment is a very durable string piece that is secured on the top of the Safee.  The other end has a metal clip.  You can either attach your Safees by the clip itself (it’s a pretty strong clip) or you can simply wrap the spiral attachment around or through what you are attaching it too and then clip it at the bottom of the attachment where the string is.  I actually prefer doing it that way because it makes it shorter and less likely to be pulled off.

You can use them on backpacks, strollers, clothing, pets and so many other things.  My kids like to wear them on their belt loops.  Our youngest usually doesn’t wear pants that has belt loops so a lot of the time, he wears his around his wrist.  I always keep one on my purse too.  Adding them to strollers are also really nice!  I love Safees.  Ever since I received mine, we have been using them.  We spend a lot of time outdoors this time a year and a lot of the time we walk to the park after dinner and by the time we leave, it’s usually beginning to get dark.  Of course our kids are right with us and our younger ones always has one of our hands but that doesn’t always mean that someone driving down the road will see us even though it’s only just beginning to get dark.

See the video below to see the difference.  There are people walking down the road wearing Safees and there are others walking down the road without them.  Those with them actually look like a bunch of lights up ahead.  If they are hard to miss in the video, you should see them for real.  The way the light reflects off of them, they really do look like lights themselves.

Another great time we use them is if we are running errands in the evening.  I already mentioned the parking lots.  Since we live out on a country road where our nearest neighbor is about a half mile away, our dog runs around the yard unleashed.  Of course he’s never left unattended but in the evening, it’s sometimes hard to keep track of where he’s at.  He’s never ran out into the road either but using Safees on his collar helps us keep track of him with our flashlight and just in case a car does drive by, they can see him out in the yard.

They work great!  As soon as light hits them, they reflect really, really well.  Another great thing is that “when manufacturing Safees nothing is wasted, no harmful waste is produced and everything is used directly or recycled. And of course, the Safees themselves are 100% recyclable.”  I highly recommend them!

Founder of Safees

“Safees was founded by Johanna Denize who is originally from Sweden and who grew up always wearing a reflector. When Johanna had her first child in 2010 she immediately noticed that strollers are at great risk for being hit since cars simply do not seem to see them. Johanna desperately tried to find quality reflectors (i.e. hard prism reflectors) to attach to her son’s stroller and herself. Not finding any reflectors that live up to the high quality found in Scandinavian hard prism reflectors, Safees was born. Johanna is on a mission to increase traffic Safety for children in the US and reduce traffic accidents and fatalities. ‘Something as simple as wearing a reflector will de facto reduce your risk of being hit by a car and potentially being injured for life or even killed. So why not take this easy, inexpensive precaution?” says Johanna.“ Our whole family wears them, we have Safees on our clothes, our bikes, our strollers and even on our pets.”
