Not too long ago, Giant Eagle sent me free product coupons for Giant Eagle District Market Gelato and Giant Eagle Frozen Fruit or Sorbet Bars for free for my family to try.  The first thing I noticed about them was that they were BOTH gluten free which is awesome for me!

We tried the Giant Eagle Frozen Sorbet Bars (pomegranate and passion fruit) and loved them.  There are 6 bars in one package and they have a really great flavor.  They are also easy to bite into which is another thing that I love about them.  They are frozen but it’s not like eating a popsicle that is basically flavored ice.  These are soft and are only slightly icy.  They seem to be about 90% sorbet and when you take a bite, the sorbet melts in your mouth.  It’s so good!  Because they are not nothing but ice, they don’t melt and drip as much or as fast as a popsicle does.  After I tried this flavor, I went back and bought a box of mango ones!  They are gluten free and like I stated earlier, it’s good for me especially when it comes to frozen treats or ice cream.

We tried the Raspberry Cheesecake Giant Eagle District Market Gelato and that was another big hit.  I didn’t really even know what gelato was until I tried it.  No more ice cream for me, I stick with gelato!  Gelato is much like ice cream but it has its differences.  First of all, even though ice cream is called ice cream, it’s more milky than cream.  Gelato is more like cream.  It has the texture of a cream.  When it starts to melt, the flavor doesn’t taste milky like ice cream does.  Giant Eagle Market District Gelato tastes great and also feels great when eating it.  The raspberry cheesecake flavor really tasted like raspberry cheesecake.  In fact, it was almost like eating a really soft, creamy cheesecake.  Absolutely delicious!  I can’t eat ice cream that often because it sometimes upsets my stomach so I rarely ate it.  I have found that when it comes to most dairy products, if I eat a gluten free dairy product, I don’t have any problems.  It’s weird though because other non dairy products that does contain gluten, doesn’t bother me.  I don’t really understand it but at least I know there are some frozen treats out there that I can enjoy!

Both of these treats are absolutely delicious and I love them, my family loves them!  Purchase them both at your local Giant Eagle store!
