I just love for my kids to have as many books as possible.  We started them all out early with board books and I was thrilled when I was told that I was going to review Flip Along Fun.  I was reading about this book and was really interested in it right from the start.  I was sent an autographed copy and this book is definitely going to be cherished in our home for many years to come!  Flip Along Fun isn’t just a great book to for early readers, it also teaches math including learning about numbers, addition, matching; sequencing, rhyming, colors, animals, and what I love most it teaches the beginning, middle and end of a story!  Flip Along Fun is also a Mom’s Choice Awards winner.
This book doesn’t have regular pages that you would find in a typical book.  It’s spiral bound and  when you open the cover, you will see three sections of panels.  The point to this is so that kids can flip through these panels and choose their own little story.  There are tons of different stories to come up with.  You choose one of the first panels which will feature one of the animals in the book, then choose a second panel to flip to, and then pick a third panel that matches both the animals featured in the previous panels.  The little stories are all about adding numbers together too so when the animals match up, the numbers also always match up!   Match up the animals to get the correct addition answer!  Below are some examples so that you can get a better idea of how this book works.
Here the panels say “1 bear in brown turned upside down saw 1 green frog out for a jog and the 2 were wishing they could go fishing.”
Here the panels say “3 pink pigs wearing silly grins met 1 green frog sitting on a log and all 4 ate cake ’til their tummies ached.”
One last example says “2 white bunnies making faces funny spied 3 gray mice eating fried rice the 5 shut their eyes and did exercise.”
And there you have it – one great book!  There are so many different possibilities and it’s great for learning to match when you have to match up the animals in the third panel.  The other thing that I love is the fact that the numbers are not spelled out which can teach number recognition.  All the panels even say the color of the animal featured too which makes learning about colors or learning color words easy.  Learning addition with small numbers is also a plus and I just love the beginning, middle and end.  I remember when our daughter started kindergarten, that was one of the things that they started learning.  This is a great book to have getting my 4 year old son ready for kindergarten.
The stories are short and simple and very easy for a child to follow.  It’s great for early readers too and they can have a lot of fun and spend a lot of time with this book at one setting.  The illustrations are very cute!  The way that the book is put together makes for a pretty sturdy and durable book that will last.  Flip Along Fun definately gets 2 thumbs up from this mom!

The product was sent to me for free by the company for my use and review. I was not paid to write my review and my opinions are 100% my own.
