Moshi Monsters Online Game Review and MoPods Giveaway {CLOSED}

My 9 year old daughter just loves playing computer games.  I had actually saw a commercial for Moshi Monsters on TV and thought it looked cute.  It would be something my daughter would enjoy playing.  I was given the opportunity to work with them and Mind Candy on a review.  You can create a Moshi Monster and play for free but if you become a member, there are other places you can go and other things you can do that you would otherwise not be able to do.  I was given an account with full access so my daughter and I could explore the whole world of Moshi Monsters.
First of all, let me start with the safety.  Like a lot of parents, I make sure that any online game that my daughter is playing is safe.  Moshi Monsters allows to communicate with friends so this was something I had to check out before I let my daughter play.  When a child creates an account if you don’t create one for them, you will receive an email asking for you permission.  There are moderators and your child needs to know their friends’ monster name to be able to find them.  Any friend request has to be accepted before any kind of communication can happen.  You just don’t have to accept someone you don’t know as a friend and they can’t communicate with your child.  After playing Moshi Monsters myself, I felt pretty comfortable with my daughter playing it.  You can read more by visiting the Parents section.
The Moshi Monster World
Your Monster has his own home that you can decorate with items, decor, and furniture that you can buy from the different shops that are found in the different sections of Moshi land.  Over time, your monster levels up and some items cannot be purchased until you reach a certain level.  You will need to play games to keep your monster happy and you will also need to feed him to to keep his health up.  Playing the games and puzzles earn your monster Rox which is Moshi currency to buy food and items.  In your monster’s home, you can play the puzzles of the day.  You can play them over and over to increase your score but you only earn Rox once per game.  Below are screen shots of the puzzle menu and a few of the games which are educational.
There are lots of different puzzle games which also include math, number sequencing, word puzzles and more – candy for your mind!  As you walk your monster through the different sections of Moshi world, there are a few other games that you can play to.  These are more like action games like making ice cream cones or catching butterflies for a couple examples.  You can even find pets for your monster.  These are called Moshlings.  There is an area in Moshi land where you can grow plants (you have to buy seeds) and when they grow, a Moshling might just show up!  There are a lot of things to explore and do in Moshi land!
With the full membership, you have access to the Underground Disco where you dance to “Broccoli Spears”, “Banana Montanna”, “The Groanas Brothers”, “Lady Googoo” and more.  My daughter just loves the names of the singers and bands!  I think it’s cute!  Dancing to the music is a lot of fun.  You have to hit the notes using the arrow keys at the right time.  It’s great for hand-eye coordination.  You can also visit the Port and Gift Island, you have a Moshling Zoo so you can keep your Moshlings in order, there’s the Colorama where you can change the color(s) of your monster, you can have multiple stories to you house and decorate each room differently, and more!
I think Moshi Monsters is a lot of fun.  I also think it’s very educational and I love how the games test our daughter.  They can sometimes get a little difficult which is a good thing because I love games that can challenge her.  I really think these games are more educational than any games we have ever bought her.  Moshi Monsters is a lot of fun and my daughter and I both use the same account so when she gets something new she gets all excited and has to tell me the new item that we have for our house.  I definitely recommend it!  I think it’s a fun place for kids that is educational and it’s safe!
Moshi Monsters also has a store where you can actually buy some really cute Moshi Monster products.  Along with the membership account we received, we also got a set of 6 MoPods.  These are really cute!  They are little pods with one of the Monsters inside.  They are like cell phone charms and they spin and light up when you receive a call, text, email, etc on your cell phone!  These work on GSM networks including, but not limited to AT&T and T-Mobile.  We have AT&T and they work great.  I figured we would have to do something to get them to work but we didn’t have to do anything.  We tried it out and sure enough, they went to town!  We have one hanging in our car, one in our van and I keep one on my desk.  It’s kind of nice when we don’t hear our cell phone and see these little guys dance!
We received Poppet, Diavlo, Katsuma, Luvli, Zommer, and Furi.
I can’t tell you enough how cute these guys are!
The product was sent to me for free by the company for my use and review. I was not paid to write my review and my opinions are 100% my own.
Buy It:  Be sure to check out Moshi Monsters and create your monster for free!  The membership is $5.95 a month, $34.95 for 6 months, or $49.95 for 12 months.  You can also visit the Moshi Store to buy their cute products!
