Scientific Explorer Heavenly Hair Kit Review and Giveaway {CLOSED}

My 9 year old daughter loves to know about everything.  She wants to know how everything works and loves making things and doing little experiments.  These little experiments are also helpful when it comes to her disabilities.  They take her mind off everything else and has fun while learning.  I was thrilled to work with Scientific Explorer on a review.  We were sent a Heavenly Hair Kit for our use and review.  Scientific Explorer Kits are distributed by GiddyUp.
The Heavenly Hair Kit is recommended for ages 8 years and older.  With this kit, you get everything you need to make your own shampoo and conditioner, a hair brush, and a hair wrap.  The instructions are really simple to follow.  With this kit, my daughter was even able to learn about hair.  Why do we have straight or curly hair?  Why do we have the color of hair that we have?  How does it grow?  Your daughter can learn the answers to these questions with this kit.  Not only do you get to make your own shampoo and conditioner, you get to learn so much more.  In the instruction booklet are little experiments that you can do to get the answers to these kind of questions.  For these experiments you will need some supplies that aren’t included but they are things like lemon juice or baking soda so it isn’t anything that’s much of a big deal.  These experiments are pretty interesting and easy for my daughter to do.
Making the shampoo and conditioner was really easy.  My daughter was able to it herself.  To start with the shampoo, all she had to do was dump all the shampoo base (it was pretty watery) into the mixing bowl that was included in the kit.  Then she had to add the thickener packet and stir it up until it thickens.  It thickens pretty quick too.  Then all she had to do was add half of the fragrance and stir that in.  The conditioner only needed the left over fragrance stirred in.  The hardest part was getting the shampoo and conditioner back in their bottles.  I dumped the contents from the mixing bowl into a paper cup and pinched the lip of the cup so that I could pour it back in the bottles.  This was the only thing that she needed help with because pouring it from the bowl didn’t work out so well.
What was also so great about the Heavenly Hair Kit was that even throughout the instructions on how to make the shampoo and conditioner, there were even questions included in the instructions.  Like, does it get thicker?, Does it change color when you add the fragrance? And other things.  I think this is a great way to get kids really into what they are doing which is great for my daughter.  It makes her feel more involved in what she is doing.
She loves the scent of the shampoo and conditioner too.  It’s a berry scent and it’s not too strong.  It’s just right and even lingers around the next morning after she got out of bed.  It leaves her hair soft and shiny and cleans her hair.  The conditioner does okay making it easy to brush out her hair.  Other conditioners are better but keep in mind, my daughter has very curly hair that is really unmanageable like mine so I don’t think it’s a problem with the product at all.  She just loves her hair wrap too!  She likes using it after taking her shower because she has a big problem when it comes to drying it.  The wrap soaks up the water in her hair before she brushes it out.
I think the Heavenly Hair Kit is a great learning tool.  There is a lot more than just making your own shampoo and conditioner.  It’s really a great kit to learn all about hair and the little experiments are also fun too!  I’ll definately have to look into finding more of these kits for my kids.  I think they are great!  Scientific Explorer has been making these great kits for 15 years and I hope they never stop.  It’s a great way to make science fun!
The product was sent to me for free by the company for my use and review. I was not paid to write my review and my opinions are 100% my own.
