{Everything Summer} UV Skinz Review and Giveaway {CLOSED}

Summer is a fun time for my family.  We love to get outdoors, go to the zoo, go swimming, hiking or drive down to the lake.  I have always been very big on lathering my kids in sunblock just to play outside in the yard.  We don’t need any sunburns in our home!  I came across UV Skinz one day and immediately became interested in their products because sun protection is very important to me especially when it comes to my kids.  UV Skinz was founded by Rhonda Sparks a few years after losing her husband, Darren to malignant melanoma, which is the deadliest form of skin cancer.  To fulfill his legacy, she and her family and her and Darren’s friends founded the Darren Lee Farwell Foundation to raise awareness of the dangers of UV radiation from the sun. 
Rhonda and Darren have three boys and she would have a hard time trying to find swim shirts or any kind of UV clothing for her boys.  Rhonda spent about 2 years researching and in 2005, UV Skinz was born.  “Darren’s Story” was very touching after I read it and it is also very informative.  You can read his story by visiting the UV Skinz website.  I was given a wonderful opportunity to work with Rhonda and UV Skinz on a review and we were sent the UV Skinz Navy Peace & Stars Set for our use and review. 
  
The UV Skinz Navy Peace & Stars Set is a complete UV protective clothing set that includes a UV swim shirt, UV shorts, and a UV sun hat.  The swim shirt is made of 88% nylon and 12% spandex.  It has a large neck hole and has a slighly high neck line to protect the neck all the way around from the sun.  The swim shirt that we received was short sleeved but even though the sleeves were short, they were a little longer than you might see on a regular tee-shirt.  The way it’s sewn makes irritaion from seams pretty non-existent which is a good thing when your clothes are wet.  The shirt is very easy to put on even my squirmy 9 month old!
The swim shorts, or board shorts have a liner inside them so there is no need to wear anything underneath them.  They are elastic in the back which makes them comfortable to wear and they have a drawstring in the front so that you can tie them to the perfect fit.  I think they are really cute with the pocket and the little star and peace sign on them!  The sun hat is absolutely adorable too!  I love the stars and peace sign design and the sun hat is also reversable!  I love that the sun hat not only covers and protects his head but it also covers and shades his whole face!

UV Skinz doesn’t have to be worn only when swimming although they are better than your traditional bathing suits.  UV Skinz are UPF 50+ swimwear that blocks out 98% of the sun’s rays.  With this much protection, they are great for wearing any time that you are outside!  The Navy Peace & Stars Set that we recieved was perfect for the Fourth of July and that is what Little E wore all day! 
I was worried that he would be hot wearing it but he wasn’t at all.  UV Skinz helps draw moisture away making you feel cooler.  I was very surprised that he was actually cooler wearing his UV Skinz than any regular clothing!  Another thing that you don’t have to worry about is that UV Skinz doesn’t run smaller or bigger.  They are the perfect fit.  We received his UV Skinz in a size 2 because he wears 24 months clothing – at 9 months old.  To me, there really isn’t much difference in size 2 and 24 months.  I thought they fit him pretty well!
Overall, we love UV Skinz and I think they are a must have for the summer months!  After given this opportunity to try UV Skinz products, I am definitely a believer on how well they protect from the sun.  They are not made of any chemicals or lotions either.  The swim shirt is soft and the whole outfit is a comfortable fit to wear anytime.  He wears his sun hat every time we go somewhere even if he isn’t wearing his whole outfit.  We absolutely love it and this mom – and dad, highly recommend UV Skinz!
