{Back to School} Boca Beth-Bilingual Educational Products Review and Giveaway {CLOSED}

I love teaching my kids new things including another language.  I think it’s really great for them to learn different languages and cultures and with Boca Beth, they can learn Spanish!  Learning a second language is another fun and different way to learn.  Studies have also proven that bilingual children or kids that learn a second language learn to read sooner and score higher on standardized tests.  I took Spanish in high school and I wish I knew a thing or two about Spanish before I took the class – not that it was too difficult but it could have been helpful.  From my own experience, I thought learning Spanish was fun.  With Boca Beth products, I can give my kids the opportunity to learn for themselves.
Not only does Boca Beth products teach Spanish, they also teach English at the same time. Using both languages in a “side by side” fashion, your kids can learn both. I also found that with the DVD, it has also been helpful for our 4 year old learning to read at the same time he is learning Spanish. These products are meant for young kids which is great to start even at our youngster’s age.
I was given the opportunity to try some Boca Beth products in our home and our kids love it.  Both our 9 year old daughter and 4 year old son has learned a bit of Spanish after a few weeks of using them.  Our little guy (11 months old) even loves watching the DVD we received.  We also received a coloring book and a music CD and we think they are great!
Boca Beth “I Like Animals” DVD is all about animals.  Boca is the teacher and while watching the DVD, you see all kinds of real scenery with different kinds of animals including horses, monkeys, elephants and more.  Boca is at the front of the scene and says single words or animal names in English first and then repeats the same thing in Spanish.
Boca also speaks simple full sentences in the same fashion.  Everything that Boca says is in print at the bottom of the screen.  This is why it has helped our 4 year old when it comes to everyday reading while learning a little Spanish at the same time!  They both picked it up pretty quickly and in only a couple weeks of watching it almost every day, they were both actually saying things in Spanish.  They both already new how to count to ten in Spanish before Boca Beth but that was about it.  Now they know quite a bit because once they learned most of the words, learning new ones came that much easier!  The DVD seems to be targeted more for the younger kids (compared to our 9 year old) but she doesn’t mind.  There are segments when there are kids singing and dancing and boy does our youngest love these parts!
The Boca Beth music CD we received is “My First Songs In Spanish“.  These songs are really fun to sing along to and they all are educational.  Again, the songs are sung in the same “side by side” fashion singing every line in English immediately followed in Spanish.  Our kids love the Boca Beth Theme Song although they love them all.  I think they are great songs including “Hola amigo – Hello Friend”, “Me gusta contar – I Like to Count”, “Veo colores – I See Colors”, “Yo se los dias de la semana – I Know the Days of the Week” and many more.  I think these are wonderful songs to teach kids how to count in Spanish or learn colors in Spanish and even the days of the week!  They love saying hola and adios (hi and bye) all the time.  I think it’s really cute and all I could do one day was smile when my son said “Can I have some more juice, por favor?”
The coloring/activity book is also great too.  There are fun pictures to color featuring Boca and underneath each picture is a word in English and the same word in Spanish.  This is great for kids learning to read the words in both languages and to help them out, the pictures even help with that.  For example, one of the pages has a picture of Boca with a couple strawberries and at the bottom says strawberries in both English and Spanish – fresas.
Towards the end of the book, there are some activities with the directions in both English and Spanish and what I thought was really fun is that there is even a crossword puzzle that both our 4 year old and 9 year old liked completing together.  The words are in English for the across and down spaces.  There is a box of the same words all in Spanish and they had to match up the correct Spanish word to fill in the boxes.  They worked together on it and I was impressed that they pretty much figured it out for themselves.  I think I helped them with two words and that was it!
We were very impressed with what they learned and after getting the opportunity to try some of these great products, this mom and dad give them two thumbs up!  Our kids have learned quite a lot and Boca Beth makes it fun and easy to learn!
The product was sent to me for free by the company for my use and review. I was not paid to write my review and my opinions are 100% my own.
