Crayola Pop Art Pixies Activity Kits Review and Giveaway {CLOSED}

“Crayola wants you to meet the Pop Art Pixies – Skye, Maya, Tatum and Naomi – a group of online characters whose special interests and personalities are the inspiration for a new activity kit line created for tween girls.”
I was given the opportunity to try out 7 of 14 new Crayola products.  Crayola’s new art/craft activity line is the Pop Art Pixies.  The Pixies include four best friends with their own personalities and uniqueness about them.  They have an online world where your daughter can create her own avatar to “hang out” with the Pixies, meet the Pixies, and can upload photos of her own creations.
Meet the Pixies!
Meet Skye! She’s sweet, thoughtful, and always thinking of others and how she can help save the environment. She loves the outdoors, playing soccer, friends, wildlife and hiking.

Skye’s Pop Art Pixies craft kits include: Create a Water Bottle, Wooden Charm Bracelets, Skye’s Herb Garden and Wind Chime kit.

Meet Maya! A free-spirited young lady, Maya lets her inner creativity show and encourages everyone to express themselves without judgment.

Maya’s Pop Art Pixies craft kits include: Create a Glass Pendant, Shadow Box Kit, Create a Water Color Frame and Create a Sun Catcher kit.

Meet Naomi! She is big into technology and music, and can mix music with the best of the best. Music is her life and her DJ spirit inspires her desire to communicate more through actions and sounds than words.
Naomi’s Pop Art Pixies craft kits include: Create a Stationery Box and Create a Color Glow Lamp.
Meet Tatum! The bubbly, social butterfly of the Pixies and famous for her cupcakes, Tatum is fun-loving, outgoing and likes to host parties for her friends because everyday is worth celebrating.
Tatum’s Pop Art Pixies craft kits include: Create a Decoupage Glass Plate, Party Lights kit, and Create a Mosaic Picture Frame.
The 7 kits we received were Skye’s Wind Chime Kit, Skye’s Water Bottle Kit, Tatum’s Create a Decoupage Glass Plate Kit, Naomi’s Create a Stationery Box and Create a Glow Lamp, Maya’s Create a Glass Pendant Kit and Shadow Box Kit.
Our daughter loves making jewelry and she really liked making her necklaces with Maya’s Create a Glass Pendant Kit.  Included in the kit are glass beads and you can make two necklaces.  One of them features a single larger pendant and the other features smaller beads.  There are recoloritz markers so that she can re-color the glass beads if she wants.  There are also 6 disc designs which my daughter loves because she can change the look of the necklace multiple times.  This is really great for her because like most girls, she changes her mind all the time!

Tatum’s Create a Decoupage Glass Plate Kit is also really fun.  The kit comes with three glass plates that can be designed!  There are sheets of paper that can be cut into shapes and there are design cutouts as well.  Our daughter loved designing her plates.  She really liked to be able to cut out her own designs and it was really fun to do with her friends.  After they cut out their designs and layed them out on their plates, they applied the included decoupage with the paint brush that came with it.  It dries pretty quick too.  These plates are great for adding deco to her bedroom plus she now has her own special plates for snacks when she has her friends over!  They should be handwashed and can be washed over and over again!

Naomi’s Create a Glow Lamp Kit really adds fun to her bedroom!  It folds up really easily into an accordion shaped lamp.  It’s a Pagoda-inspired plastic shade with a lot of really cute decals that can be added to the lamp.  It has LED lights with great color and the green, yellow, blue, and red lights can either change in random or you can set it to stay on one color.  The control buttons are easy to use too.  What I like about it is that it doesn’t need to be plugged in.  It requires 3 AA batteries (which are not included) and the batteries last for quite some time.  I never really noticed the lamp ever getting too hot either but of course since it’s a decorative lamp, we tell her not to leave it on all the time.  It’s really easy to assemble although she did need a little help assembling the lamp shade.

Naomi’s Create a Stationery Box is really cute!  It comes with a box that looks like a bento box and the stationery paper and sticky notes looks like sushi!  Included is a wasabi shaped stamper and stamp pad and two gel pens (one red and one black) that look like chopsticks!  There are 4 sticker sheets so that our daughter was able to decorate her box and chopstick pens.  I like the pens myself.  I think they write great and of course the chopstick pens are absolutely adorable!

Skye’s Create a Water Bottle Kit is a great way to go green.  This water bottle is a great way to keep from using plastic bottles and creating more waste.  This kit comes with a water bottle that can be painted with the paints and paint brush that is included.  There are a lot of really great stencils to make a really cute design on the water bottle.  It’s definitely a great way for your daughter to express herself!  The bottle also has a clip on it for easy tagging along and the paint dries pretty quickly too.  I was really impressed by how well the paint worked!

Skye’s Create a Wind Chime Kit comes with two already assembled birdhouse wind chimes.  They are plain wooden houses that are painted with the paint and brush that comes with the set.  One of the chimes has a butterfly hanging at the bottom while the other has a bird.  The colors of the paint are really vibrant.  We liked this kit because really all you have to do is paint.  When we used this kit, both our daughter and our older son each painted a wind chime.  I thought it was really great to see how their creativity came out!  The wind chimes also sound really great!  Again, I was very impressed by how quickly the paint dried.  Literally by the time that they were done with one side, the paint was pretty much dried so they were able to go on and paint the other side without having to wait long at all.  The paint also washes off hands really easily too.
Maya’s Create a Shadow Box Kit is the other kit that both our daughter and older son both did together.  These kits are targeted for girls but he likes crafting and painting too so we thought we would get him involved too.  They each made a shadow box by painting their own wooden shadow box frame with the gloss paint that was included.  After they were finished painting, and again the paint dried pretty quickly, they brushed on the varnish (included) to really make them shine and gloss.  The kit comes with a quite a few different background sheets and other die-cut design pieces and adhesive foam squares which are used to make a 3D effect with the designs.  The kit allowed them to make a few different pictures apiece so that they can change out their pictures when they want to.  Of course a fun way to use these is to make a picture with their own items in the shadow boxes too!  The back of the frames open up like any picture frame and they can also be hung up on the wall for dispay.  This kit really allowed for creativity!
Craft Time!
We thought all these kits were really great.  They are easy to do which is a good thing especially for our daughter because she can sometimes get frustrated easily.  There really isn’t anything frustrating with any of them at all.  We thought they were all really great crafts and great quality too!  They are definitely a great way for girls to show their creativity, their own personal ideas and at the same time, their personalities shine through their own creations!
