Skillet Bacon Spread, aka Skillet Bacon Jam is a really great condiment that I was given the opportunity to try. When I first heard of Skillet Bacon Spread I didn’t know what to think! I knew I couldn’t wait to try it though. I think it’s really unique and would make a great gift for the foodie in your family. My husband loves it (he does most of the cooking) and loves using it on just about everything.
What is it exactly you may ask? Well, it’s yummy goodness!
“we take a big bunch of really, really good bacon, and render it down…add a bunch of spices..onions, etc. and let it simmer for about 6 hours…give it a quick puree, blast chill it…and you have bacon jam..”
It comes in 13oz jars and it really is a bacon spread. I have never seen anything like it before. You can use it for just about anything your heart desires. When I first received it, I tried just a little from the jar. It’s already cooked. I immediately thought it was pretty good!
We have used Skillet Bacon Spread on our burgers, lunchmeat sandwiches, omelets, baked potatoes, and potato cakes. I really loved it on my baked potato and potato cakes! It has a great bacon flavor with the perfect amount of caramelized onions and with the other spices, it has a great tangy yet sweet flavor that brings out the bacon goodness!
Oh yeah, it’s also really good with grilled cheese too. I also like to make myself tomato sandwiches. Yep, that’s right. Just tomato on a sandwich. I toast two slices of bread, add a couple slices of tomato and a little mayo and i’m good to go. I added a little Skillet Bacon Spread and it was so good. I still can’t get over the flavor!
Skillet Bacon Spread or Jam has been featured in time, bon appetit, time magazine, the wall street journal, and food and wine magazine. The chef that created this wonderful yummy goodness is Joshua Henderson and he is also an award winner and has been a leader in the national street food phenom.  Chef Henderson, you get two thumbs up from my family!
