The Night Night Book Review and Giveaway {CLOSED}

I was given the wonderful opportunity to review Marianne Richmond’s new delightful board book, The Night Night Book.  Marianne is a wonderful writer and artist and you can see that in The Night Night Book with her artsy and beautiful illustrations.  She started her own gretting card company and wrote her first book in 1997.

The Night Night Book is a great read for the little ones before they go to bed.  It’s a little story with a little boy getting ready for bed and goes through the motions of telling everything good night until he sees them again in the morning.  After having the opportunity to read this book to my younger kiddos, they had fun saying good night to everything in sight.  I think it’s a great way to get younger kids that don’t want to go to sleep, settle in bed after saying goodnight to the day and looking forward to a new one in the morning.

I love it because the story rhymes as it goes along.  It starts out getting ready for bed.  Getting a bath, brushing teeth, etc, and then settling down to say good night to the day that was left behind.  “Bubbly clean.  Teeth are brushed.  Milk in tummy.  House is hushed.”  “Stars come out.  Day is done.  Night night trees, flowers, sun.”  Then the story goes how we say “Night night” to the sandbox and slide, to the wagon with the bumpy ride.  My kids love saying Night night to everything too like in the book.  Crayons, puzzles, toys, the list can go on!  I just love the part where it says “Night night sky.  Night night moon.  Dear tomorrow, see you soon!”  I think that part makes the already charming book even more charming!

I love the illustrations in this book too.  It gives story time a feel good, cozy feeling in my opinion.  The illustrations are created to look like they are made with ribbon, buttons, cutout construction paper, etc. and it even makes it more freindly and fun for younger kids as well.  We love this book and found that it has been helpful when putting our youngest to bed at night because he never wants to go.  The Night Night Book makes going to bed fun and gets him looking forward to tomorrow!
