“First introduced in 1997, Build-A-Bear Workshop has since become one of the most popular plush brands in the world, delighting kids with an interactive make-your-own stuffed animal experience.”
The new Build-A-Bear Workshop Playsets include Furbulous Fashion Friends which are single figures (4 inches) that includes 6 different bears, a bunny, kitty and a puppy and each of the figures come with a button stand with thier own “bearism” message. Shopping Fur Fashions sets include a figure with an additional outfit they can change into. One outfit is a casual outfit while the other is a dressy outfit. These figures are also 4 inches and there are 4 different sets. Then we have the Play Environments. Currently there are two of these sets. These playsets are smaller playsets that includes a 4 inch figure with some basic accessories. One of them comes with a cheerleader bear along with her locker that stores all of her accessories inside. The other one comes with Beary Cool bear and comes with a bike. Last but not least are the Deluxe Playsets. One of them is a cafe and the other is a horse stable!
After Playmates Toys contacted me about reviewing one of their new Build-A-Bear Playsets, my daughter was thrilled! She loves Build-A-Bear and we have taken her a couple times to make her own bear. Of course she loves playsets and these type of toys so mixing that Build-A-Bear brings some excitement. Now she’s already asking for all the other bears and playsets for Christmas! We were sent one of the Play Environment Basic Playsets – Beary Cool Ride as shown above. Beary Cool Ride comes with a 4 inch bear and some really great accessories!
The bear is an adorable purple bear and her outfit can be removed which is great because when I get my daughter some more of them, she can mix and match the bears’ clothing. It comes with an adorable bike, bike path, and some great accessories such as a water bottle, messenger bag, and a little “toy bear” that can ride in the basket on the bike. The bear’s shoes are also removable and she is also outfitted with a bike helmet that is also removable. The helmet is a little tough to get off but not too tough that a three year old would have too many problems. I think this is a good thing because one thing that I have learned is that younger kids (at least mine) get frustrated when things don’t want to stay put. Our daughter is 11 so she is past that stage thank goodness.
The helmet is easier to take off if you remove the bear’s earrings. The little yellow flowers on the bear’s ears are earrings and they can come off too. They also stay put and don’t just fall out. Another great thing about it because then there are no worries about losing them! The messenger bag is soft so putting the water bottle inside is easy and works great (or the little “toy bear”). The bear can even hold the water bottle! The bike path is a little hill that the bike can roll over.
You know what else I find great with it? The bike is made so that the bear stands on it. It is molded so that the bear’s feet stay put on the bike. Yep, I’ll say it again, great for younger ones that doesn’t want to be frustrated by the bear not being able to stay on the bike during play! I was really impressed with this set. There are other playsets or toys of this type that my daughter has that has things fall off at random times or doesn’t stay together. Not a single problem with the Build-A-Bear sets! I think these are great for imaginative play, creative play, role play and much more! The age recommendations are for ages 3 years and older. There are small pieces such as the earrings. As a mom I love these playsets. Of course my daughter does too an I am excited to buy more. They are so cute and fun to collect!
