Purex Fels-Naptha Laundry Bar & Stain Remover Review & #Giveaway #ad

I am a Purex Insider and recently received the opportunity to try Purex Fels-Naptha Laundry Bar & Stain Remover.  I received a free product for my use and review.  I was really excited to try this because I have never tried it before.  It looks like a bar of soap but it’s not a bar of soap even though one of it’s main ingredient is soap.  First off, I have to say that it is amazing for treating stains and removing them!

The Purex Fels-Naptha Laundry Bar comes covered in a wrapper and when I removed it, it looked like a solid soap bar, yellow in color.  Since it kind of resembles a bar of soap, I love the fact that the label of the product is carved into the bar.  Of course I keep all my laundry things up on a high shelf where my kids can’t reach them to mistake it for a bar of soap anyway.  It’s great for pretreating and removing tough stains such as dirt, grease, and ring around the collar.  I have a few long sleeved shirts that have been hanging in my closet all summer and are starting to look dingy around the collar.  They don’t have it anymore!

I recently treated two different kinds of stains which you will see in the picture below.  The first stain I treated was a grass stain that was on one of my sons’ pair of shorts.  I really despise grass stains and I have fought with so many of them.  I have used many different stain removers to try to get rid of them but I lose the battle more often than not.  I was skeptical about the grass stain coming out.  The other stain that I treated was an oil/grease spot on a pair of my husband’s jeans.  These jeans are the ones that he normally wears when he is working outside or working on the car.  I don’t normally bother to much with this particular pair of jeans because he doesn’t wear them for anything else.  But they had a fresh oil/grease spot on them after he was fixing something on the car so I decided I was going to go ahead and see if the Purex Fels-Naptha Laundry Bar could take care of it.

To use the bar, first you need to unwrap it.  Next, you can either wet the bar or wet the stain itself with water.  Then take the bar and rub it over the stain.  Be sure to rub it over the stain a little generously with a little pressure.  You may see little shavings from the bar come off and that’s okay.  You can leave those pieces on the clothing like that and just throw it in the wash that way.  You can actually grate some of the bar into the wash for a stain booster.

After I treated the two stains (the grass stain and the oil/grease stain), I was REALLY impressed when I removed them from the washer when they were finished.  Just to be clear, my laundry detergent doesn’t have anything extra in it like bleach or stain remover boosters.  It’s just regular laundry detergent and of course I always wash in cold water.  I let the two pieces of clothing sit for about 5 minutes before throwing them in.  Only one wash and the stains came out!  I couldn’t believe the stain on my husband’s pants had come out.  I never bothered with those pants for that reason!  I still can’t believe the grass stain.  I am so happy about that because this boy of mine have a few pants/shorts with grass stains that have been set in.  I just want to make a note that these two stains were not set in stains.  This was the first time that I washed them with these stains.

The bar does have a little bit of a scent to it – nothing strong or anything.  It’s a light clean, pleasant scent.  Just enough to notice.  Of course after they are washed, you don’t smell it anymore.  The bar doesn’t absorb water.  I feel that’s important to note because I want to make sure that you do not have to worry about it getting slimy or anything.  Not much of the bar rubbed off either so I can see this lasting quite a while!  Which is good because with a husband and three kids, I always have stains to treat!  I still can’t believe these stains came out so easily though!

  1. I haven’t yet tried it but I would like to try its usefulness as a stain remover and whites brightener. I need to find something to do those jobs as I have a hard time getting my laundry to look clean.

  2. I’ve never tried it but my daughter gets the craziest stains on her clothes from outside and some we can never got off!
