Ipsy Beauty Bag Subscription “19 Reasons” January 2014 with Video

IpsyJanuary2014

My January Ipsy Bag arrived yesterday!  This month’s theme is called “19 Reasons 2014 Will Be Amazing”.  Usually there are at least 2 full size products each month.  Ever since I have been a subscriber, I have always received at least 2 full size products (one time is was nothing but full size products) but this time they were all deluxe samples.  However, I feel like they were generous deluxe samples especially after looking up the size and price of each product.

The bag this month is really cute.  It’s light blue and has what kind of looks like a city skyline except that it is beauty products instead of buildings and skyscrapers.  It zips at the top as usual and it is flexible (cloth-like, canvas-like) with a light blue liner.

What was inside?

  • Briogeo Don’t Despair, Repair! Deep Conditioning Mask – 1oz (Deluxe) $5.00
  • Elizabeth Mott Smooth Shadow – .7g (Deluxe) $7.50
  • Nourish Organic Lightweight Moisturizing Face Lotion – .5oz (Deluxe) $7.00
  • MicaBeauty Tinted Lip Balm – 2.5g (Deluxe) $15.00
  • Proavtiv+ Mark Fading Pads – 4 pads (Deluxe) $14.00

I did my best with figuring out the values of each product.  I looked up the full size products and came up with the values by the amount of product in each full size and did the math the best I could with the amount of product and full size price.

Total Value of my bag – $48.50

The Briogeo Don’t Despair, Repair! was awesome for my hair.  It’s a leave in and any time with leave ins, I’m always afraid my hair would look greasy or feel weighted down.  Using this product however was pretty delightful.  My hair felt moisturized and manageable all day, it was not greasy or feel yucky, and did a pretty good job with taming my hair and minimizing the frizz my hair always seems to take on.  Full Size: 5.25oz $26.00

The Elizabeth Mott Snooth Shadow is a creamy shadow pencil.  It has a pretty good pigmented color, however the color is a light color.  It is really shimmery and I love that the pencil is thin because I think I might be using this more around my inner corner.  Not sure about using it for my whole lid.  I haven’t really had a chance yet to use it but I did a swatch on my hand where I could tell it was really creamy and when I used my finger to blend it, it did appear to look like it would blend well.  It feels powdery after I blended it with my finger.  I’m not just sure yet if it will be a good blending shadow on the eye while using a brush so we shall see.  Full Size: 1.5g $14.99

The Nourish Organic Lightweight Moisturizing Face Lotion is absolutely wonderful.  I like to use a face lotion every night after washing my face.  I typically use face lotion a couple hours after I wash my face and I like to use something that is lightweight and doesn’t leave my skin feeling oily or greasy later.  My skin feels soft and I don’t have any problem with it including the issues I just mentioned.  It does a great job moisturizing my skin.  I love that it’s organic too.  Full Size: 1.7 fl oz $21.99

MicaBeauty Tinted Lip Balm.  Oh what can I say other than I am in love with this lip balm?  It’s not shear as I thought it would be which is fine by me.  I love the color, it’s very pigmented and a really beautiful color.  I got “Fiesta”.  It’s like a purplish-dark pink color and looks great.  Another Ipster asked me if it was sticky and I told her, not at all.  And when I say not at all, I mean not at all.  It’s like you aren’t even wearing anything on your lips!  I was seriously amazed by this.  I have used many lip balms and I can always tell I was wearing it whether it was sticky or not.  I could always tell.  You don’t feel this lip balm at all.  It makes my lips feel soft, they don’t dry out and stays moist throughout the day.  The color is also long lasting.  There isn’t any shine to it though so if you are looking for shine, you might want to add some clear gloss over it.  Full Size: 4g $30.00

Last but not least is the Proactiv+ Mark Fading Pads.  I have not tried these yet.  I am curious how they work and how well they work.  I do have a few spots that I am looking forward to trying them on.  I read many people say that they irritate or tear up their face so I have been nervous about trying them.  I don’t have sensitive skin or anything so I’m not sure if I should be worried or not.  If anyone has ever tried them, feel free to let me know how they worked out for you.  Full Size: 5 pads $20, 15 pads $50 (Amazon prices) or you can find them in the Proactiv+ Kit which is $40

Worth it?  YES!

Once again, totally worth my $10.  I have been an Ipsy subscriber for 5 months now and love it.  I have been happy with each bag and they have all been valued at over $10 so in my opinion, it’s worth the money.  This month’s bag wasn’t as great as a few of my previous monthly bags but I was still happy with it.  The products that are sent to you are also selected and sent to you depending on your preferences with what is called IpsyMatch.  This means that the products that you will receive, you will most likely get use out of them.  If you sign up, you may be put on a waitlist (I was on the waitlist for no longer than 5 weeks) but you will NOT be charged until you come off and your subscription actually starts.

There’s also perks to being an Ipsy subscriber.  I have actually connected with a few other “Ipsters” because of the way Ipsy website is designed.  That’s always fun and it’s fun to see what looks others have come up with.  Another awesome perk is earning Ipsy points.  You can earn points for giving feedback on the products you receive each month and you can also earn points with a personal referral link.  Once you earn enough points, you can choose a full size extra time.  The selection one what you can choose varies and they change them every once in a while.
