Ipsy Beauty Bag Subscription “The Look of Love” February 2014 with Video

My February 2014 Ipsy Bag arrived a couple days ago.  This month’s theme is “The Look of Love” which is very fitting for the month of February.  Four of my products were full size while only one this month was a deluxe sample.  The best thing about Ipsy is that even though they select the products they send to you, they do a pretty good job of sending the ones that best fit you from your stylist survey, which you can retake as many times as you like if you feel like you are getting products you wouldn’t normally use.

This month’s bag was pink (which is also fitting to February and the theme this month) with a white zipper across the top.  The top of the bag looks a little curved which I also though made the bag look really cute.  The liner on the inside drives the cuteness factor further with the pink animal print (leopard I believe) inside.  The bag looks durable and very flexible.  It’s somewhat cloth-like or canvas-like.

Inside my Glam Bag

  • POP Beauty Plump Pout Mini (Full) – $8.00
  • Zoya Nail Polish (Full) – $9.00
  • City Color Be Matte Blush (Full) – $2.99
  • Eyetini Cordial Cream Shadow/Base in One (Full) – $18.00
  • NuMe Intense Renewal Mask Haircare (Deluxe Sample) – $3 or $4

Total Approximate Value – $41

Since most of them were full size products, it was easy for me to get the values.  The NuMe deluxe sample was a little different to come up with.  I found the full size product and did my math from the total cost and product size of the full size with the 20ml Deluxe Sample I received.

POP Beauty Plump Pout Mini – I love it!  Until I started my Ipsy Subscription, I had never used POP Beauty before.  I have to thank Ipsy for that because if Ipsy never introduced the brand to me, I may or may not have ever tried the brand.  I have received other products from this brand and I have loved all of them.  When I saw that I was getting a Plump Pout Mini, I was totally excited.  The color I received is Peony Petal and at first I wasn’t sure if I would love the color or not.  It is right down my ally for my lip color preference but I still wasn’t sure.  It looks like a darker shade of pink on me without being too dark.  I really like the color.  It is shear but is very pigmented.  Most shear glosses that I have used only have a tint of color to them so this product can be worn without a lip color underneath.  Which is fine by me!  It is really hydrated so it doesn’t dry my lips out and it makes my lips feel soft and moisturized.  The color is lasting but I have reapplied at least once throughout the day.  It has a pretty good smell to it too.  Mini Size 4g – $8.00, Regular Size 8.5g – $16.00

Zoya Nail Polish – I love Zoya polish and I get excited every time I get one in my Ipsy bag.  I have only had a couple bottles before I subscribed to Ipsy mainly because I tend to buy the lower end nail polishes.  I love nail polish and tend to buy a lot so it’s easier on my wallet to go with the lower end stuff.  Anyway, I took advantage of a sale Zoya had a while back and got three free polishes.  I watch for sales and offers quite often.  Since I don’t buy Zoya that often, I get excited when I get one through Ipsy.  The color I got in my bag was Odette.  It is a purple shade, almost pastel but at the same time a little darker like a plum shade.  I thought it was really pretty and I absolutely love the color.  Zoya polish dries quickly and sets really well and never flakes off.  In my experience when using this brand, it’s not easily scratched either.  Full Size Bottle Zoya Nail Polish 0.5 fl oz – $9.00

City Color Be Matte Blush – When it comes to blushes, I use a light color blush.  I just want enough that’s barely noticeable when I do wear it.  The color I received was Fresh Melon and I was really happy with the color.  It’s a pinkish color but has an orange-ish tint to it much like a melon color.  I love it because I don’t normally tend to use straight pink blushes.  I like a little orange to them.  Not much, just a little like this one.  It is a light color, it looks really pretty and it’s easy to build on.  If you want just a light hint of blush like me, you get that.  If you want a little more, you can achieve a more noticeable color by adding more.  I tried it just for fun and I found it to be a really buildable blush.  It also blends well and that’s a big plus to me.  It is obviously a matte blush which is awesome because I don’t like shimmery blush at all.  Full Size 8.9g – $2.99

Eyetini Cordial Cream Shadow/Base in One –  If you are a fan of cream shadows, this is a fabulous product.  I don’t use many cream shadows, I prefer your typical pressed shadows.  However, that doesn’t mean that I don’t like this product because I do.  I just don’t use cream shadows that often.  The color I received was Spiced Rum.  It is a very pigmented color and it is shimmery.  It is really creamy and goes on smoothly and evenly.  It does set rather quickly and I was hoping it would become a little powdery after setting like some other cream shadows do.  This does not.  I found it a little difficult to blend.  However, if you use another cream shadow with it, I found I could blend them both using a smudge brush as long as I did it quicker than with my typical pressed shadows.  I need more time to blend colors the right way though.  I would probably use this shadow as a single color and still get a great look by adding eyeliner.  You don’t always have to use more than one color and blend them to create a great look.  I love this color and a great benefit to it is that I don’t have any fallout when applying it.  I don’t know about anyone else but no matter what brand I use, any time I use shimmery shadows, I always have a little fallout.  Full Size 4g – $18.00

NuMe Intense Renewal Hair Mask – My deluxe sample only gave me a one time use.  It’s not because of the deluxe sample size but my hair is really thick, really curly, and comes down almost to my behind.  So one use was all I got.  The product does claim that your hair will show improvement after one use.  After one use, I did notice a little improvement.  I thought my hair looked a little more shiny, it felt a little healthier and looked a little more healthier.  I think this was due to the fact that this product added moisture to my hair.  And my hair could use more moisture.  It’s supposed to make hair more resistant to breakage from styling and coloring.  Since I was only able to get one use, I couldn’t get a really good idea if it does or not.  Like I said though, it did make my hair look healthier though.  It smelled a little strange to me.  Not that it was a bad smell or anything, I thought it smelled good.  I just think it was strange because I couldn’t quite pinpoint what it smelled like.  I can’t remember if I said it was a leave in product in my video or not because a lot of hair masks are.  This product is not.  You apply it after shampooing and leave it in your hair for 5 to 10 minutes, then you rinse it out.  Full Size 6oz – $29.00

Is Ipsy worth it? – Absolutely!

Once again, totally worth my $10.  I have been an Ipsy subscriber for 6 months now and love it.  I have been happy with each bag and they have all been valued at over $10 so in my opinion, it’s worth the money.  I have only received one bag so far that was just a bit “so-so” but you will get that every once in a while with any subscription such like this.  However, Ipsy is the only one that I know of that does a pretty good job of getting you full size products and send you products that actually fits you.  The products that are sent to you are selected and sent to you depending on your preferences with what is called IpsyMatch.  This means that the products that you will receive, you will most likely get use out of them.  If you sign up, you may be put on a waitlist (I was on the waitlist for no longer than 5 weeks) but you will NOT be charged until you come off and your subscription actually starts.

There’s also perks to being an Ipsy subscriber.  I have actually connected with a few other “Ipsters” because of the way Ipsy website is designed.  That’s always fun and it’s fun to see what looks others have come up with.  Another awesome perk is earning Ipsy points.  You can earn points for giving feedback on the products you receive each month and you can also earn points with a personal referral link.  Once you earn enough points, you can choose a full size extra time.  The selection one what you can choose varies and they change them every once in a while.
