Ipsy Beauty Bag Subscription “Fresh Picks” May 2014 with Video

My May 2014 Ipsy bag arrived a couple days ago!  The bag this month is absolutely adorable!  There is nothing plastic-like with this bag.  It’s completely cloth/canvas and I love the leaves and the green color.  When I started looking at the products that I received, it looks like they were trying a natural feel to them.  Like the hair oil – it’s natural and organic.  The sunscreen is natural and the shadow is mineral shadow.  Anyway, check out below of what I received in my bag this month!

What’s in the bag?

  • Hang Ten Classic Sport Sunscreen SPF 50 (Deluxe) $2.00
  • Pacifica Mineral Shadow Duo (Deluxe) $3.00 – $4.00
  • Boo Boo Coverup Concealer (Full) $19.99
  • Avene Thermal Spring Water Spray (Deluxe) $4.00
  • Balanced Guru No Frizz Balancing Oil (Deluxe) $12.50

Approx Value of Bag $42.49

I did my best with doing the math on these products since most of them were deluxe samples this time.

Hang Ten Classic Sport Sunscreen SPF50 – This sunscreen is natural and it absorbs really easily.  It is kind of runny but most sunscreens I have used are a little runny.  It doesn’t leave my skin feeling or looking greasy or sticky and it doesn’t have an overpowering “beachy” smell.  Which is great for me because as often as I use sunscreen, I don’t want to smell like I came from the beach everyday.  Full Size 6 oz for $12.99

Avene Thermal Spring Water Spray – This product is nice to have handy when it’s hot.  Any time it’s really hot and I am outside for a long period of time, not only is sunscreen important but I also want to make sure my skin stays and feels hydrated.  This spray is nice for those days because it instantly makes skin feel better.  It’s soothing and softening.  I don’t know about anyone else but when I get really hot and being outside for a certain amount of time, my skin sometimes starts to feel dry and tight feeling so this will definitely come in handy.  Full Size 5.29 oz for $12.50

Balanced Guru No Frizz Balancing Oil – This is really great for my hair.  It helps manage frizz and I love that it contains organic sesame and lemongrass.  It does make my hair look a bit healthier instead of overly frizzed out like it normally does.  It does have a weird scent to it though but it dissipates and if I use my shine spray, the scent isn’t noticeable.  Full Size 1 oz for $25

Boo Boo Coverup Concealer – This concealer is made with healing ingredients that include aloe, chamomile, green tea, tea tree oil and vitamin E.  If you have a little “boo-boo”, instead of using shiny ointments and a band-aide, you can use this product and conceal at the same time.  It’s a good shade for me.  It’s a medium shade which is supposed to match most skin tones.  I think it works great and matches my skin tone really well.  It might actually work better with my skin tone than the regular concealer I have been using!  Full Size 0.34 oz for $19.99

Pacifica Mineral Shadow Duo – I love shadows.  And because I love shadows I really hate saying that I didn’t love these.  They are not very pigmented at all.  The color is so light you can hardly see it and that’s even after applying and applying and applying.  I think the white shade that was in my duo would make a great highlight color.  Maybe the purple could make a good highlight color as well if I was creating a darker purple shadow look.  These duos were created for Ipsy and the shadows can be found in one of two Pacifica eye shadow pallets for $13 – $17 for the complete pallets.

Is Ipsy worth it? – Absolutely!

I always say this and once again, totally worth my $10.  I have been an Ipsy subscriber for 9 months now and love it.  I have been happy with each bag and they have all been valued at over $10 so in my opinion, it’s worth the money.  I have only received one bag so far that was just a bit “so-so” but you will get that every once in a while with any subscription such like this.  This month was kind of “so-so” for me too but that only makes two months out of nine that I was just okay with and not jumping up and down.  Don’t get me wrong, I still like all the products this month and I will definitely be using them.  Ipsy is the only one that I know of that does a pretty good job of getting you full size products and send you products that actually fits you.  The products that are sent to you are selected and sent to you depending on your preferences with what is called IpsyMatch.  This means that the products that you will receive, you will most likely get use out of them.  If you sign up, you may be put on a waitlist (I was on the waitlist for no longer than 5 weeks) but you will NOT be charged until you come off and your subscription actually starts.

There’s also perks to being an Ipsy subscriber.  I have actually connected with a few other “Ipsters” because of the way Ipsy website is designed.  That’s always fun and it’s fun to see what looks others have come up with.  Another awesome perk is earning Ipsy points.  You can earn points for giving feedback on the products you receive each month and you can also earn points with a personal referral link.  Once you earn enough points, you can choose a full size extra time.  The selection one what you can choose varies and they change them every once in a while.
