Ipsy Beauty Bag Subscription “Sensationally Sunkissed” July 2014 with Video #ipsy

Here is my Ipsy Glam Bag for July 2014!  This month’s theme is “Sensationally Sunkissed”.  A perfect theme for the month of July – the middle of summer (except for some reason we are having some unseasonably cooler temps).  It’s even been in the 40s overnight!  Anyway, there were 5 products in my bag this month which is usual.  The bag is really cute.  It’s bright pink and kind of reminds me of a postage stamp.  The bag is cute but not sure if it’s really my style.  But it is very pliable and I can fit quite a bit inside it.

What’s in the bag?

  • Bare Minerals 5 in 1 BB advanced cream eyeshadow (deluxe) $9.00
  • Hang Ten Dark Tanning Oil (Deluxe) $1.50
  • wHet Nail Polish (Mini) $10
  • Pixi Tinted Brilliance Balm (Mini) $7.00
  • Be fine food skin care Daily Moisturizer (Deluxe) $12

Total Approximate Value $39.50

I did the best with the values of each product by looking up the full size amounts and prices and doing a little math.  The values are approximate values.

Hang Ten Dark Tanning Oil – This tanning oil has an SPF 08 and is a natural formula.  I haven’t had a chance to use it yet but I have used Hang Ten natural sunblock and love it.  The tanning oil doesn’t quite smell like any other tanning oil.  This smells a bit more fruity.  I’m hoping to get a chance to use it before summer is over because we haven’t had much of a summer!  Full Size:  8oz Spray Bottle $11.99.

Bare Minerals 4 in 1 BB Advanced Cream Eyeshadow – At first I was confused with this one.  I thought it was just BB cream designed to use as an eyeshadow primer but it’s actually a cream shadow.  That’s a good thing because the shade that I received is actually kind of dark.  It has a very slight shimmer to it but it’s more of a matte finish.  It glides on really creamy and is easy smooth out on my eyelid with my finger.  It blends with other colors fairly well too.  I have used it as an alone eye color and also used it with blending other shades.  I like to use it as a base as well.  I really like it.  I’m starting to get into cream shadows a little more because sometimes they are easier to work with.  Full Size:  .10 oz $18.00.

Pixi Tinted Brilliance Balm – This balm really is brilliant.  I absolutely love it.  It leaves my lips feeling really moisturized all day.  It glides on brilliantly as well.  It is a tinted balm and I received “Unique Pink”.  It is a very light tint of pink.  Just barely noticeable.  Which is fine because sometimes I just don’t feel like wearing a lot of lip color.  It has that typical lip balm smell to it which I don’t mind.  Full Size:  3g $14.00.

wHet Nail Polish – At first I thought this was a full size product but it’s actually a little smaller than the full size bottle.  Not by a whole lot though.  I have tried this polish already and to me, it’s an average polish.  I was excited to find out I was getting in my bag because I love getting nail polish.  I was a little disappointed in it though.  I do love the fact that it is three free and vegan.  What disappointed me in it was that it looks really streaky.  It doesn’t go on as evenly as I would have liked.  I had to use two coats of polish to actually get the blue color like the bottle.  To be fair, it could be my nails having too much or too little natural oils and the polish just isn’t for me.  Or it could just be this particular color.  It is a pretty blue color though, I just wish it looked a little better on my nails.  Full Size:  15ml $15.00.

Be fine food skin care Daily Moisturizer – This moisturizer contains SPF 15 which is really nice.  It has an allergen free fragrance, paraben free, and also contains vegetarian proteins and made with rosemary, pomegranate, and rice.  It has a light scent to it.  You can smell a very faint pomegranate smell but the rosemary takes over.  Definitely smells herbal to me.  It’s not a bad smell or anything, just a little different for me.  I love how easily it’s absorbed though and absorbs really quickly.  Doesn’t leave my skin feeling sticky or greasy at all.  Very skin hydrating and leaves my skin feeling moisturized for sure.  Helps a lot with dry skin.  Full Size:  3oz $24.00.

Is Ipsy worth it? – Absolutely!

I always say this and once again, totally worth my $10.  I have been an Ipsy subscriber for 11 months now and love it.  I have been happy with each bag and they have all been valued at over $10 so in my opinion, it’s worth the money.  I have only received two bags so far that was just a bit “so-so” but you will get that every once in a while with any subscription such like this.  I loved this month’s bag but usually there is at least one full size product in it.  A lot of the time there’s even two.  All of these products were deluxe samples or mini versions of the full size versions.  They were all generous sizes though and were all basically half the full sizes.  Ipsy is the only one that I know of that does a pretty good job of getting you full size products and send you products that actually fits you.  The products that are sent to you are selected and sent to you depending on your preferences with what is called IpsyMatch.  This means that the products that you will receive, you will most likely get use out of them.  If you sign up, you may be put on a waitlist (I was on the waitlist for no longer than 5 weeks) but you will NOT be charged until you come off and your subscription actually starts.

There’s also perks to being an Ipsy subscriber.  I have actually connected with a few other “Ipsters” because of the way Ipsy website is designed.  That’s always fun and it’s fun to see what looks others have come up with.  Another awesome perk is earning Ipsy points.  You can earn points for giving feedback on the products you receive each month and you can also earn points with a personal referral link.  Once you earn enough points, you can choose a full size extra time.  The selection one what you can choose varies and they change them every once in a while.
