Ipsy Beauty Bag Subscription “Creative Genius” December 2014 with Video #ipsy

This is my new December 2014 Ipsy bag!  December’s theme is “Creative Genius” and the bag is black and it is a bit more cloth-like than some of the other Ipsy beauty bags that I have received.  The zipper and liner is a dark pink, almost like a purple mauve color.  I love those two colors together.  It has a heart tag on the zipper pull as well.  It’s a really cute bag and I’ll definitely get some use out of it.

What’s in the bag?

I got a couple full size products and a few generous deluxe samples.

  • BWC Facial Cleanser (deluxe) $2.50
  • Cailyn Cosmetics Just Mineral Eye Polish (full size) $15.00
  • NYX Butter Lip Balm (full size) $4.00
  • Sexy Hair Blow Out Spray (deluxe) $7.00
  • Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes 4-in-1 Mascara (deluxe/mini) $10.00

Approximate Total Value $38.50

I did the best I could with the approximate values of the deluxe sample sizes by using my math comparing the full size value of the products.

BWC Facial Cleanser – I am really happy with this facial cleanser.  First of all, it is 100% vegan-vegetarian.  It benefits normal to oily skin which is good for me because that tends to be how my skin is.  This cleanser has a natural-like scent to it.  It actually smells pretty good and has a light clean scent.  It’s a little thick and not too watery which is how I like my facial cleansers because in my opinion, they are easier to use.  It doesn’t lather a whole lot but it feels great on my skin and it’s almost like I can literally feel it cleaning my skin.  It cleans well and rinses well too leaving behind no residue that I can tell.  My skin feels great afterward and it doesn’t dry my skin out. Full Size 8.5 oz $11.95.

Sexy Hair 450 Degree Blow Out Spray – I don’t normally like getting haircare products in my Ipsy bag especially hair sprays.  This doesn’t happen that often but when it does, I end up being pretty happy to try them out anyway.  This product isn’t just a hair spray though.  It does have a good hold without stiffening my hair.  It’s a fairly flexible hold.  The thing I like most about it though is that it’s also a shine spray with thermal protectant.  Which is good for me because I straighten my hair all the time.  I tried this product the last time that I used my flat iron and I loved the look of my hair afterward.  I sprayed it on my damp hair and then blow dried my hair.  I don’t normally blow dry my hair, I usually just let it airdry because my hair tends to get pretty frizzy – way to easily I might add.  But after I blow dried my hair straight, I didn’t notice much, if any frizz.  After I straightened my hair, I noticed the shine without frizz and I also noticed that my hair stayed completely straight a little longer than it normally does.  Full Size 4.2 oz $18.95.

Cailyn Cosmetics Just Mineral Eye Polish – This is basically a loose eye shadow.  The cap comes off and it’s basically a shadow brush.  It’s a cushiony applicator and you dip it in the shadow.  It grabs the shadow really well too.  The color I got is Orchid and it’s like a tan/nude/peachy color.  It is shimmery and the color is also fairly pigmented.  It’s better than I expected because I haven’t had much luck in the pigment/color department when it comes to minerals.  It blends well with other shadows and is great to use as a base or blending color.  Or to use alone.  Sometime I like to use it here and there on top of a similar color or around my inner corner to make my eye color pop a little especially when I am using mainly matte shadows.  The wear is pretty good.  I wore it alone to check out the wear and it lasted almost all day before it started creasing.  Overall I am pretty happy with it.  Full Size $15.00.

Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes 4-in-1 Mascara – Another big hit for me.  I have tons of mascara thanks to Ipsy and I always kind of groan each time that I get another one.  BUT I love this mascara!  I am so glad I got this one.  The mascara brush is amazing.  It’s soft but no too soft and catches my lashes perfectly.  Each one of my lashes are coated without clumping – at all.  The brush spreads my lashes out evenly.  I normally use two coats of mascara but I only have to use one coat with this mascara.  It’s black and really makes my lashes stand out and makes them look fuller.  I am very happy with the wear.  It lasts all day and I even teared up a little while watching a movie and it didn’t even run or smear.  It isn’t any more difficult than other mascaras when it comes to removing it.  This is some really awesome mascara!  Full Size $20.00.

NYX Butter Lip Balm – Absolutely LOVE it!  My lips are spoiled with this balm.  It’s literally like butter.  Very moisturizing and hydrating.  Makes my lips feel so soft and smooth.  I use a lot of lip balms this time a year because they tend to need a bit more moisture during these months.  The color I got is Marshmallow and it smells like candy.  The color is like a nudish/peachy color.  When I say color, it’s more like a tint.  I don’t know about other colors but this color is light, you can tell there is a little color there.  Which is fine by me because I don’t use a lip color all the time so a tinted balm is pretty nice all the while being amazing for my lips.  I absolutely love the feel of it.  It’s not sticky either.  My lips are in heaven.  Full Size $4.00.

Is Ipsy worth it?  YES!

I have been a subscriber for over a year and love it every month.  It’s only $10 a month and that includes the shipping.  If you are in Canada, there is shipping though.  You always receive 4-5 products each month some of them being generous deluxe samples or mini versions of the product.  Some of them are even full size.  I always look up the values and the total approximate value is on average around $40 each month.  I love how Ipsy works too because it’s the only subscription service that sends you products that best suit you.  They use their IpsyMatch which is a survey you take which you can re-take at any time.  They match you with products based on how you answered the questions.

Another great thing about Ipsy is that you can earn points for leaving feedback on the products you received.  They also have point opportunities to earn by sharing on facebook and you are also provided with your own personal link and get referral points.  These points can be redeemed for full size products that will come with your next Ipsy bag absolutely free.  If you are looking for a beauty subscription that’s affordable, Ipsy is definitely for you and I have been pretty happy with everything I receive each month!  If you are interested in signing up, sign up here —>  Sign up for Ipsy.
