Here’s my new Ipsy bag! This is the January 2015 glam bag and it is themed “Fresh Start”. The bag is cute but I’m not quite sure about the color scheme. One side is blue, the other side is white and the zipper and liner is orange. I like the textured feel to it. Like I said, it’s still cute though. Anyway, on to what’s inside!
What’s in the bag?
- Bella Pierre Shimmer Powder Eye Shadow (full size) $14.99
- Elizabeth Mott All Over Shadow Brush (full size) $9.99
- Malin + Goetz Mojito Lip Balm (full size) $12.00
- Pacifica Natural Mineral Coconut Eye Shadow Single (deluxe) $3.00
- Nourish Organic Renewing Eye Cream (deluxe) $ Not sure
Approximate Total Value $40.00
I did the best I could with the deluxe sample size products. Doing my math, I compared them to the full size products. The Pacifica Eye Shadow only comes in a full palette and I have gotten these singles from Ipsy before so I used the same value as the last time I got one. I am not sure about the Nourish Eye Cream because when I was doing my valuing, it was a new product that wasn’t out yet at that time so I didn’t have a full size to compare it to. It might now be available on their website. The total value doesn’t include that product because of that reason.
Nourish Organic Renewing Eye Cream – I have been using it for about a week now. It’s creamy and makes my skin feel soft. Not really sticky and absorbs quickly. I’m not sure if it is suppose to help reduce fine lines but if it does, I haven’t noticed a difference. Although I don’t have many lines. It is moisturizing and the area around my eyes do look a little younger. I will continue to use it and update if I get any more results.
Malin + Goetz Mojito Lip Balm – Honestly I am not sure what I think about this product. The lip balm is a clear gel-like balm. It’s a little sticky but not overly sticky. It has a very slight pleasant smell too it, doesn’t really have a taste. I’m just not sure how I like the feel of it on my lips. It’s literally like I have gel on them. I do like the results though. It’s a daily protectant and is a soothing treatment that hydrates and moisturizes lips really, really well. I like to use it when I am not wearing lip color or I use it at night, or use it first thing in the morning a couple hours before I do my makeup. Before I do my makeup, I like to wipe off as much as I can before I apply any lip color. I do think it hydrates better than some other balms but I don’t think it works the greatest under a lip color. I like to use this product before applying lip color (I just wipe it off before applying) because it smoothes and softens my lips really well. Lip color looks better with softer and smoother lips. Full Size $12.00.
Bella Pierre Shimmer Powder – I really like this shimmer powder. It works great for a highlight or my inner corners when creating my eye shadow look. It is very, very shimmery and has a white color to it. It blends well with other shadows and you could probably use it as a body shimmer as well. Just very lightly dust it on. It has a good pigment but what’s so great about it is that you can actually control how you want the color to look. This shimmer powder can be used as a body shimmer like I said by lightly dusting it on without leaving any noticeable color on your body – just the shimmer. Or you can use more to make the color more noticeable. Another way I like to use it instead of using it as a noticeable color, after I do my shadow, I like to lightly dust over my whole eyelid to give my shadow a shimmer look without interfering with my shadow. Full Size $14.99.
Pacifica Natural Mineral Coconut Eye Shadow – This one I was actually worried about. The last time I got a Pacifica shadow, I wasn’t really impressed. It was not pigmented well at all and I could barely get any color from it. This eye shadow is the opposite. When I did a swatch on my hand with my finger, I was really impressed with the color. It’s a brownish/goldish/copper color and it looked to be pigmented really well. It has great shimmer to it as well. When I used it using my shadow brush, the color wasn’t as fabulous as it was when I swatched it but after layering it a couple times it looked great. Much better than the last one I got! The wear is about average though. I can go about 4-6 hours before it starts creasing. Not bad, a little above average overall. Full Size – Pacifica eye shadows are only available in a complete palette and their palettes are from $13 to $17.
Elizabeth Mott All Over Shadow Brush – I really like this shadow brush. It’s great for exactly what it’s called – an all over brush. Great coverage for the complete lid and I can also use it as a crease brush because of the shape of the brush and my lids. So for me, it actually works as more than one type of brush. The brush is really, really soft. It grabs eye shadow really well and it works really well when applying my eye shadow. It’s a good size too. I have some brushes that are really long for some reason and this one seems to be a little shorter which gives me a little more control. I really like it! Full Size $9.99.
Is Ipsy worth it? YES!
I have been a subscriber for over a year and love it every month. It’s only $10 a month and that includes the shipping. If you are in Canada, there is shipping though. You always receive 4-5 products each month some of them being generous deluxe samples or mini versions of the product. Some of them are even full size. I always look up the values and the total approximate value is on average around $40 each month. I love how Ipsy works too because it’s the only subscription service that sends you products that best suit you. They use their IpsyMatch which is a survey you take which you can re-take at any time. They match you with products based on how you answered the questions.
Another great thing about Ipsy is that you can earn points for leaving feedback on the products you received. They also have point opportunities to earn by sharing on facebook and you are also provided with your own personal link and get referral points. These points can be redeemed for full size products that will come with your next Ipsy bag absolutely free. If you are looking for a beauty subscription that’s affordable, Ipsy is definitely for you and I have been pretty happy with everything I receive each month!
