Ipsy Beauty Bag Subscription “Beautifully Bohemian” April 2015 with Video #ipsy

ipsy april 2015

My new Ipsy bag arrived last week and after being just okay with Ipsy the last couple months (it’s bound to happen every once in a while), I was really happy this time, although I usually am.  First of all, I love the bag.  After being a subscriber for a year and a half, this bag has got to be my absolute favorite.  It’s really pretty and I love the weaved type bag instead of the plastic-y, glittery type ones.  I also got a quite a few full size products this time.  Check out what the approximate value is this month below!  The April 2015 theme is “Beautifully Bohemian”.

What’s in the bag?

  • Pandora’s Makeup Box Pink Carnation Blush Refill (Full) $14.00
  • Mullein & Sparrow Mini Lip & Cheek Tint (Full) $10.00
  • The Balm Cosmetics NUDE Dude Eyeshadow Single $3.00
  • Elizabeth Arden Beautiful Color Lipstick in Red Door Red (Full) $25.00
  • MicaBeauty Eye Primer (Mini) $22.00

Total Approximate value $74.00!

I did my math by comparing the deluxe/mini sizes to the full size products.  For example, the NUDE Dude eyeshadow comes in a pallet of 12 shades for $36. Doing the math I came up with $3.00 per shade because the amount of product in one shade in the pallet is the same amount of product in the single shade that I got.  Hopefully that made sense.  On Mullein & Sparrow website, they sell their mini lip & cheek tint together with their mini healing salve for $20.  That was easy because I only got one of those products so I halved the value.  And then the MicaBeauty Eye Primer is exactly half the full size.  The full size is $44.95 for 8g of product while the mini version that I got is 4g of product so again, I just halved it.

As you can see, I have another product shown in the picture above.  I got a full size NYX Butter Lipstick (full size) as an extra free item after I redeemed some of my Ipsy points for it.  I also got one of these lipsticks in my bag last month and if you want to see my full thoughts on it, you can find it in my post HERE from last month.  This lipstick is valued at $6.00 but I did NOT include that in the total since it was an extra item.

Elizabeth Arden Beautiful Color Lipstick – This lipstick is absolutely fabulous.  I don’t like the shade that I got – I’m afraid to use bright red lipstick.  BUT the lipstick itself is really awesome.  I can definitely say that the color is pigmented really well and had great color.  The lipstick is creamy and really hydrating.  It does have a little shine to it.  How long the shine or color lasts I do not really know because I didn’t leave this lipstick on long enough to know because of the shade.  I am definitely interested is buying a couple other shades though.  Full Size $25.00.

Mullein & Sparrow Mini Lip & Cheek Tint – I’m not sure about using this tint on my cheeks but as a lip balm definitely.  It comes in a little tin jar and feels kind of oily.  It does not feel greasy and it doesn’t really feel like I have anything on my lips.  Not really as moisturizing as some other balms that I use but I do like to use this on my lips first before applying lip color as an extra assurance that my lips won’t dry out.  Or I apply it over lipcolor for added shine.  When it comes to the tint, I don’t really see it.  As a cheek & lip tint?  Not so much.  As just a lip balm, yes.  Full Size $10.00.

Pandora’s Makeup Box Pink Carnation Blush – The color that I received is Pink Carnation.  The blush that I received is actually a full size blush refill because Pandora’s Makeup Box sells their blush in magnetic boxes.  Instead of paying more for a new blush when you run out, you can spend less for a refill and take out your empty blush pot and put your refill in it’s place.  I actually like this idea because it makes buying makeup a little cheaper.  Anyway, when I first swatched this blush, I didn’t really think I would like it.  I like pink blushes but I prefer a really light pink blush.  This shade looked a little dark for me and it was like it was a little too much pink for me.  When I applied it to my cheeks, I was actually pretty happy with it.  It’s pigmented well but the way it is pigmented, it lets you control the color.  It may have a darker pink shade but I can still apply it lightly for a great color for me.  Summer is also coming up and eventually I will start to not look so pale so I actually think this shade will be better suited for me during the summer afterall.  It blends well and is easy to work with.  Full Size for the refill $14.00.

The Balm Cosmetics NUDE Dude Eyeshadow – When I looked into my Ipsy bag, I thought this item won the cuteness award if I was giving any of these products an award as such.  The single eyeshadow is absolutely adorable.  It has and “old” look to it and it closes magnetically.  It is a brown/coppery shade which is good for me because I typically use those kind of shades on a regular basis.  This shade is shimmery though which I will still definitely use, just not as much as my matte shadows because that’s what I prefer on a daily basis.  The shadow has great pigment, pretty much lasts all day (all day for me is 5-6 hours) before I noticed any creasing.  It also blends easily and plays nice with other shadows.  Full Size (12 shade pallet) $36.00.

MicaBeauty Eye Primer – I was really happy to get this product because I was actually almost out of eye primer.  I like to use them because it makes eyeshadow (no matter what color/shade) to stand out a little more especially when I am blending colors.  This product doesn’t fail either.  It works great with my skin tone, it’s creamy and easy to apply, blends in easily.  Full Size 8g $44.95.

Is Ipsy worth it?  YES!

I have been a subscriber for over a year and love it every month.  It’s only $10 a month and that includes the shipping.  If you are in Canada, there is shipping though.  You always receive 4-5 products each month some of them being generous deluxe samples or mini versions of the product.  Some of them are even full size.  I always look up the values and the total approximate value is on average around $40 each month.  I love how Ipsy works too because it’s the only subscription service that sends you products that best suit you.  They use their IpsyMatch which is a survey you take which you can re-take at any time.  They match you with products based on how you answered the questions.

Another great thing about Ipsy is that you can earn points for leaving feedback on the products you received.  They also have point opportunities to earn by sharing on facebook and you are also provided with your own personal link and get referral points.  These points can be redeemed for full size products that will come with your next Ipsy bag absolutely free.  If you are looking for a beauty subscription that’s affordable, Ipsy is definitely for you and I have been pretty happy with everything I receive each month!

One more great thing is, Ipsy offers discounts on all the products/brands each month so if there is something you really like in your bag, you can buy it at a discounted price!  If you are interested in signing up, sign up here —>  Sign up for Ipsy.
