I recently was chosen to receive a Maybelline New York SuperStay 24 Voxbox from Influenster. I was sent product for free for testing and review purposes. If you are interested in checking out Influenster and signing up, check out my blog post about it HERE.
Included in my box were two Maybelline New York SuperStay 24 Lipcolors. The two colors I received were Keep Up The Flame and Constant Toast. There are 30 color shades available. The claim is that this color is long lasting, doesn’t cake or flake and doesn’t transfer. It also claims it lasts through 200 bites and 120 sips. It doesn’t crack because of its microflex technology. Do the claims hold true? Well, read on!
First let me tell you a little about the colors. Constant Toast is definitely more my color. It’s a lighter nude-like color with maybe a very slight pinkish tint to it. It also appears to have a slight shimmery look. Keep Up The Flame is a bright red color which I tend to avoid as much as possible. Red lipcolor just scares the daylights out of me. I am never that daring to wear red lipcolor. However, I didn’t mind the red color. I was very surprised that I kind of liked it. It might be because I liked the formula and with this formula the red worked. I don’t know for sure but I didn’t think it looked bad. I still prefer shades more like Constant Toast though.
The unique thing about SuperStay24 is that is does have a microflex technology that after the lipcolor is applied and dried, it does not crack, dry out, cake, or fade. I found these claims to be very true. I was really impressed. I was able to move my lips just as normally as I do without lipcolor and my lipcolor didn’t crack or do any of the other things I just mentioned. Normally when I wear lipcolor, I use a balm before I apply my lip color so that my lips maintain moisture. I was a little skeptical before I tried this lip color because you need to apply on clean, dry, naked lips. Then apply balm. My thinking was that by doing that it would be counterproductive but that was not the case. I’m not sure if the lip color has moisturizing properties but my lips felt moisturized and hydrated the whole time I was wearing it.
There are two parts to this lipcolor. One end is the lipcolor and the other end has a lip balm. You apply the lipcolor and let it dry for a couple minutes. It goes on glossy but when it dries, it has more of a matte finish. The only part about this lip color is that when it’s drying it’s very sticky. And when I say sticky, I am not joking when I say my lips wanted to stick together. After it dries, you apply the lip balm. You do not want to wear this lipcolor without it. Once I applied the balm, there wasn’t anymore stickiness. My lips felt good. After the balm, it does look a little glossy but not overly glossy. You just don’t really have the matte finish anymore.
After I had applied the lipcolor, I tried to see if it would transfer onto a tissue and it didn’t – at all. Not even a slight tint of color transferred. I wore my lip color all day long. Ate a couple meals, it lasted through countless drinks and not a single time did I notice any transfer of color on anything and the color stayed put. I never had to re-apply the lip color. Not even once. However, I did have to re-apply the lip balm a few times throughout the day. I could tell when I needed to because my lips started to feel a little sticky again.
So what happens when you have this amazing lip color that doesn’t face or transfer off your lips? It cam be difficult to remove! And it is. It is recommended that you use an oil based make-up remover and I will recommend the same from experience. You can just wipe it off your lips. Overall I love it. I have never found a lipcolor that doesn’t transfer even just a little bit and have also never found a lip color that I never had to re-apply.
I like it so much that I am including it in my Holiday Gift Guide!
Buy It: You can find it at most stores that carry cosmetics such as Walmart, Target, etc. You can also buy it from Ulta stores and on Amazon. Prices vary between roughly around $7 to $8 per lipcolor.
