Beach Soccer – Waterproof Neoprene Sports Ball by Goliath Review

Both our boys play soccer. They love it. Of course all three of our kids like playing outside which includes kick ball, soccer, baseball and of course a lot of other things. We have so many soccer balls though. I think we have them coming out of our ears. But the Goliath Beach Soccer Ball is our one and only of it’s kind. It’s just like a regular soccer ball with some pretty cool differences.

The Beach Soccer Ball is a waterproof neoprene sports ball. Included in the Beach Sports line from Goliath are two different sizes of soccer balls and a football. I believe the size soccer ball we have is a size 4. Which is perfect because that’s the same size they use for soccer. Of course this ball isn’t a regulated ball they would need if they played team soccer.

Beach Soccer Waterproof Neoprene Sports Ball

When we first got our ball, it did need a little air. It can be filled with air using a standard needle pump. Even though this ball is great for the beach, it’s still fun to use in your own backyard, park or pool. What I love about it is that it’s soft. The covering shell is soft but the ball is also soft. Yet it still feels like a soccer ball when it’s kicked. When it comes to play, it’s basically like a regular soccer ball except it doesn’t hurt your foot to kick it while barefoot.

I rarely wear shoes in the summer so it’s nice to go outside and kick the ball around with the kids without having to put my shoes on. I love the thought behind this ball. The way it’s designed  makes it easy and safe to use in any playing condition. Since it’s so late in the summer, we never got a chance to take it with us to the beach to see what play is like in the sand. But it’s great in the backyard. Rain or shine. We had it out in the rain not too long ago. It wasn’t storming – just rain. And it was hot so we went outside to play in the rain.

It was pretty fun. The soccer ball doesn’t get bogged down in the rain. It doesn’t get slippery either like regular soccer balls do. It also feels lighter than a regular soccer ball but it doesn’t really effect how it’s kicked or how it moves through the air after it’s kicked. The kids left it outside in the rain like they do most things they take outside. Seems pretty weather resistant too.

Final Thoughts

We love this ball. It’s fun to play with in the yard. I love that it’s basically like any other soccer ball – and waterproof. The kids played with it in the pool passing it back and forth across the pool. So I can easily say it’s waterproof. Water doesn’t get inside. The outer layer doesn’t get slippery in the rain. If you have ever kicked a soccer ball in flip flops or with bare feet, you know it will probably hurt. How do I know this? Well, because one time I volunteered to help out one of my son’s soccer coaches in flip flops before. Not my brightest idea. You don’t have to worry about that with this ball.

It’s also a good ball to play backyard volleyball with too. My youngest also uses this ball to practice drop kicks. At his age keepers aren’t allowed to drop kick just yet but he wants to learn. For some reason this ball is easier for him to practice with than a regular soccer ball. It’s definitely a ball we can take with us to the park, beach or anywhere!
