My kids love this Pizza-roni Pizza Mac & Cheese Recipe. With three kids we are always trying to come up with different dinner options that my kids will eat. We get tired of the same meals over and over again and so do they. My husband actually suggested making mac & cheese pizza style. We tried it and it turned out pretty good. My kids call it Pizza-roni. The great thing about this recipe is that you can add to it. Since it is a pizza type dish, you can get creative by adding your favorite pizza toppings as well. Sometimes we add pepperoni to it and sometimes we don’t.
What you need (Prep and Cook Time – 20 to 30 Minutes)
- (2) 8 oz Packages of Mozzarella Shredded Cheese
- 16 oz Box Elbow Noodles
- 1-2 Cans Pizza Sauce**
- Pepperoni (or any other pizza toppings you would like to add)
- 1/2 Stick of Butter (optional)
- 13 x 9 Baking Pan
**We prefer to use 2 cans of pizza sauce. This is more of a personal preference. Some people don’t like as much sauce. We tried it with one can the first time we made it and thought it was a little dry. So the next time we made it, we used 2 cans. It was a lot better with 2. I can’t remember how many ounces each can was but for your preference, we use Chef Boyardee sauce.
Step One
The first step is to boil and cook your elbow noodles. Once cooked and drained, empty noodles back into your pan and add the butter until it melts. This is optional. We add the butter for a little flavor because without it, it was a little bland. Then add the pizza sauce, one full package of the mozzarella, pepperoni or other pizza toppings you want to add. Then stir it all up.
Step Two
This will fit in a 13 x 9 baking pan. Transfer to baking pan after you have everything mixed. There is not need to grease the pan or anything. Use the other bag of mozzarella and sprinkle it over the top of the pizza mac & cheese.
Step Three
Bake in oven on 350 degrees for about 15 minutes. It really doesn’t have to bake that long, all you need to do is bake until cheese is melted. Then serve!
