These Snap Ships Building Toys are awesome! My son was really excited about them. Snap Ships are from PlayMonster and are designed for ages 8 years and older. One of the things that we love about them is that each one of them has multiple builds to them. Currently my son has Sabre and Scarab. It appears that there are good guys and bad guys. My son has one of each. Right now there are 10 different Snap Ship sets you can buy. With one of the sets, the builds include a way to build one of the good guys or one of the bad guys.
Both of the ones that my son has, he can build each ship three different ways. Because of this, there are many different ships he can build with just one set! In addition to the Snap Ships Building Toys, there is an animated series that launched not too long ago and you can watch it on YouTube. Be sure to check out Snap Ships Dawn of Battle!
Another really cool thing about Snap Ships is that the toy line is supported by an AR app which allows users to explore the world of Snap Ships! We haven’t tried the AR app out yet though. The app is available for IOS in the App Store and Android on Google Play.
Keep the Box Top!
The first thing I want to mention when opening up each Snap Ship box is to keep the box top. The box top is actually the base to a stand for your ship after you have it built. The stand is included inside the box and it just simply snaps into place. It’s a pretty stable stand too.
Also included is a piece removal tool. This comes in handy for taking certain parts apart if you want to do a re-build. Trust me, with some of these parts, this tool makes things so much easier.
Inside each box is a tray with all the parts that are included. The main pieces are like cubes that have connector sides. Some of them have more connection sides than others. I love this about them because it allows you to build in many different ways. For example, if one of the cubes has a four sided connection, you can add pieces to all four sides. There are special parts as well such as the ships wings, weapons, and ammo.
In addition to the special parts, each ship also includes a mysterious UJU tech piece. You can find it by removing the large sticker containing it in the tray. All Snap Ship Building Toys also comes with a pilot. I mean, you can have these ships to fly without a pilot right?
Just a fair warning though. These pilot guys are really small. They are jointed and can you can move their arms and they can be moved into a sitting or standing position. Each Snap Ship also has a cockpit that opens and closes so that you can place the pilot inside or take the pilot out. Since the whole front of the cockpit opens, it’s easy to do. Which my son is thankful for that since these pilots are so small.
The building instructions are amazing! The instruction booklet comes with instructions for all multiple builds. They are illustrated and easy to follow along. My 11 year old didn’t have any issues with building his Snap Ships. After his ships were built, there were a few parts that needed to be removed so he could add his weapons. The weapon parts could be added without removing certain parts, they just prevented him from being able to fire his weapons. Yes, the weapons actually fire ammo!
Another really cool thing about these Snap Ships Building Toys is that when you have multiple sets, you can use your imagination and come up with you own ship. All the parts are interchangeable and can be used with any set. My son hasn’t done that though. He likes to build and re-build his ships as they are in the instructions. He’s very particular about that kind of thing when it comes to any kind of building sets.
Another fair warning – the ammo really flies. More so with the smaller firing weapons. I would suggest firing at something. My son uses a box that he fires his at. That way when they hit the box and they fall on the floor, he can easily find them. The bigger weapons fire really well too but they are easier to find and they don’t seem to fire as far as the smaller ones do. But these sure do have a bit of fire power!
My son really loves these Snap Ships Building Toys! I got him a couple more for Christmas. He also liked watching the animated series on YouTube. I personally think these are really great for creative and imaginative play. Each build is really fun and the pieces snap together really easily. While playing with them, they stay together really well too which is a huge bonus. Therefore, he hasn’t had to keep putting parts back together while playing. When he’s not playing with them, he has them on their stands sitting on his bookshelf in his room. If your kiddo is into these kind of building toys, I highly recommend them!
